Parrot food

Taking care of birds is not that easy, more so if you are taking care of a parrot. A parrot has a long life expectancy; it can live for as long as fifty years, if cared for properly. Being so it can be an ideal life companion. Because they are intelligent birds that can be taught how to speak, taking care of a pet parrot can be very satisfying. On the other hand, the parrot can be a bit overwhelming for a child to take care of.

It will be logical for us to think that a parrot’s diet consist mainly seed mixtures. Studies have shown that seeds do not provide the optimum nutrition that parrots require. Parrot food should contain more legumes, pasta and formulated diet. It is even suggested to significantly eliminate oil seeds from their diets. However, seeds can work well if properly supplemented. They should be kept at low levels so that birds are forced to eat veggies and other supplemental foods.
