Like cats and dogs, birds make great pets. Birds, however, are easier to take care of. They take care of their own cleanliness and will not need to be given baths. They can stay in their cage which is easier to clean because they are smaller and less complicated than other pet cages. When taking care of a pet bird it is necessary that they have the right size of cage and that it is placed in a location that is not exposed to direct sunlight or within reach of other pets such as cats and dogs.

Birds should also be provided with a balanced diet for it to live a full and healthy life. Providing nutritional bird food is the responsibility of the owner. He should study the requirements of the particular species of bird that he is taking care of and make sure that the requirements are met. While seeds are the basic food of birds, offering variety in the form of fruits and vegetable will be good for him. They are a good source of vitamins, minerals and carbohydrates.
