dog skin conditions

Dogs can have various ailments that may involve the internal organs and the skin. A common reason for vet visits are dog skin conditions which are common in canines and vary in severity. These problems are classified into 6 conditions based on the cause and treatments can range from diet changes to medical treatments.

~Allergic dermatitis is caused by a pet’s reaction to any number of irritants such as food, pollen, etc.
~Parasitic dermatitis is caused by parasites like ticks, fleas and mange
~Nutritional dermatitis is caused by an unbalanced or insufficient diet
~Environmental dermatitis happens due to things in the dog’s environment like chemicals, certain plastics and even grasses
~Infectious dermatitis includes fungal, bacterial and yeast skin infections
~Neurogenic dermatitis is based on emotional problems like separation anxiety which may cause the dog to lick or chew his skin obsessively to the point of being raw
