Dog Skin Problems Must Be Seen By a Vet

Excessive scratching can cause a dog’s hair to fall out and his skin to form lesions. If your dog seems to have pet skin problems, consult your vet immediately. It is difficult to diagnose something just by sight. Let your vet perform tests so he can determine the best treatment possible. Your dog will be prescribed medication once the cause of the itch is determined.

One of the most common reasons for a dog to lick or scratch himself constantly is atopic dermatitis. This is a genetically predisposed inflammatory condition that can be diagnosed after your vet has explored your dog’s medical history. The infected area is usually located on the face, ears, neck, tummy, and/or groin area.
