It is fun to watch dog shows, but much more fun is getting your pet to be part of the show. You get to meet other dog lovers especially those who own the same breed of dogs as yours. You learn a lot from each other. The thrill of competition is added to the joy of seeing beauty in the participants. Dog shows are also fun for the pets. Events could include games and booths selling dog food and accessories.
There are different kinds of dog shows. Conformation shows are only one kind. Dog show conformation involves the evaluation of purebred dogs on how well they conform to breed standards. These refer mostly to externally observable qualities such as appearance, movement and temperament. Rules regulating the show vary according to the kennel club or breed club sponsoring the show.

Not everybody can afford the expensive fees in dog training schools. Thankfully, there are now videos that can serve the same purpose. A dog training video is a great way to learn how to properly train your dog. This is a good alternative to just reading instructions from a book or going to and paying for obedience classes.
There are advantages to watching a dog training video:
~You get to clearly see and hear demonstrations how professional dog trainers operate in real life with real dogs
~You only have to spend money on the video and not on costlier dog training classes
~You can start training anytime at your convenient time and go back to parts you want to repeat as often as possible

As I write, I can hear the incessant yapping of a new puppy in the neighbor’s garage. I am reminded of the few irritants that owning a dog entails. There is the issue of the puppy missing his siblings and parents and being transported to new surroundings. Your heart reaches out to how sad he must be feeling at the moment. They need to have company and be cuddled and yet some masters just don’t understand their needs.
Some dog owners are more concerned about fancy things like a designer dog carrier or clothes. Pets need nurturing. Bonding time should be set aside. Petting your dog, playing with toys and talking to him will strengthen and preserve this bond. Providing these basic needs will set the foundation for a long and happy life with your dog.

I love dogs. Most are lovable, friendly and funny. The only dogs I don’t like are dogs that excessively bark. That’s why I love bulldogs. They rarely bark. From my experience, the noisiest dogs are the toy dogs or small dogs. They seem to have an inferiority complex. They’ll bark at anything. If you have a dog that excessively barks, get SportDog bark collars.
SportDog bark collars will check the barking habits of your dog. It will encourage your dog not to bark. It does this by sending electrical pulses from the dog collar into your dog. Don’t worry. These pulses will only offer mild shocks, enough only to discourage unruly behavior. After a few days, your dog will learn that barking is not an acceptable behavior to you and will stop. Then you can take off the collar.

Fleas can be very dangerous not only to pets but to humans too. They have been the cause of certain diseases such as dermatitis, typhus, plague and tapeworm. This is the reason why so many people are now resorting to natural flea treatment. It is known to be toxic-free and harmless to your pet and your family. This is also considered to be very friendly to Mother Nature.
There are several ways of natural free treatment. A healthy pet is capable of repelling insects. Therefore, we should give them the proper nutrition that will boost their immune system. A mixture of garlic and yeast when combined to our pet’s food can make their blood unpleasant to fleas but this is not advisable for cats as raw garlic can be toxic to them. It is important to keep our pets and its surroundings tidy to avoid reproduction of more flea eggs.

We love the idea of pets romping around the house. They are great to play with and they make a home come alive. If only they did not have to go through that phase of housebreaking. Where can we find puppies that come housebroken? Is there a way that we can get them with this annoying phase done with, much like the way that cast iron cookware can be bought pre-seasoned?
I don’t think that is possible in the near future. Housebreaking puppies is something that we have to do so we might as well be advised on how to do it properly. Puppy training should start as soon as you bring them home. Don’t give them time to develop bad habits. It is so much easier to train them with good habits than to eliminate a bad habit that has already been learned.

Lots of people are getting dogs. Besides being pets, some people use dogs as accessories. They got this idea from celebrities who bring their dog everywhere in their bags. They even dress them up. I’ve seen some dogs wear a dog sundress.
Dogs who wear a dog sundress look so cute. I’ve seen dogs wearing a cheerleader costume and a Barbie dress. Just make sure your dog does not overheat. Dogs don’t have sweat glands. They don’t perspire. If they get too hot, they can die.

Let your dog come and go in the house as he pleases. Dogs enjoy having a sense of free will while owners will love the benefits of that freedom. You will no longer have to wake up very early, get up in the middle of the night, or stand during dinner just to let your dog outside. This freedom also helps build the dog’s confidence in himself.
Install a durable dog door in your kitchen or back door. These dog doors come in a wide range of styles and sizes. They can accommodate the smallest to the largest pets. The safety features of the entrance/exit panels ensure that paws, ears, and tails will be able to pass through with ease.

I love animals. My ultimate favorite animal of all is the horse. They all look so beautiful and elegant. I love them so much that I’m even taking equestrian lessons. I’m now learning to do horse jumps. In show jumping, horses jump over various hurdles called horse jumps.
There are many kinds of horse jumps. Some horse jumps are brush boxes, gates, cavalleti, planks and poles, etc. Horse jumping is scary. You and your horse need to trust each other. If not, serious accident can happen. I’ve seen accidents where the horse hesitated and stopped. The end result, the riders goes flying in the air over the hurdle. It’s not a pretty site.
